King County GOP Chairman Joshua Freed hosted a virtual town hall for King County GOP precinct committee officers on Monday, 1 February.
More than one-hundred people attended the meeting, including Beth Broadway, Chair of the 37th District Republicans. Also in attendance were King County Councilwoman Kathy Lambert, Pierce County GOP Chairman Dave McMullan, and King County GOP Executive Director Jeff Harvey.
The formation of a formal alliance between ten county parties, including those of King County, Pierce County, and Clark County, was announced at the meeting. Freed stated that the new partnership has been designated “the Corridor Coalition.”
The possibility of creating a party-sponsored media outlet was also discussed. Several attendees expressed their concern that other media outlets in King County were not reporting the news in a trustworthy manner, thus necessitating a party-sponsored alternative.
The activities of the party’s Elections Integrity Committee, which Freed had formed near the beginning of his tenure as chairman, was another major topic of conversation. This committee was formed to address the possibility of voter fraud in King County during last year’s elections.
A member of the committee who was present at the meeting reported that the committee was currently conducting a quantitative analysis of the available data. Their intent is to create a list of recommendations regarding voter fraud prevention and to present those recommendations to Secretary of State Kym Wyman. Wyman’s office is responsible for administering elections in Washington state.
Freed commended Precinct Committee Officer Michelle Lee near the end of the meeting for her success in recruiting twenty-five new precinct committee officers. Freed also stated that eighty new precinct committee officers have been recruited into the party in the last seven weeks.
The town hall was held over Zoom. It was called by Freed and his leadership team to discuss the current activities of the King County GOP, and to listen to the concerns of the party’s precinct committee officers. The meeting closed with a prayer.
